Old-Fashioned Baked Custard

2 large or 3 small eggs
1 cup milk (cold or room temperature)
1 teaspoon sugar
Nutmeg

Grease four custard cups and place in a 9" x 9" x 2" pyrex dish and set aside. Beat eggs well with an electric mixer. Add milk and sugar and continue beating for one minute. Let the mixture rest until bubbles die down, then pour into prepared cups and sprinkle generously with ground nutmeg.

Pour cold tap water into the pyrex dish/tray until it has reached the halfway mark of your custard cups.

Bake 300 degrees for 1 hour (or until blade of knife comes out clean)

Serve chilled or at room temperature. Enjoy in the cup or you can loosen the custard with a spatula, remove from cup and serve with fruit or applesauce (nutmeg side up).
