Glazed Orange Cake
1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups white sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 Tablespoons grated orange rind
5 eggs
3 cups all purpose flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
pinch of salt
3/4 cup milk

Butter and flour a 10" (2 piece) tube pan and set aside. In an electric mixer cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla, orange rind and eggs (one at a time) and continue beating for a minute or two. Add remaining mixed dry ingredients alternately with the milk and continue beating another minute. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour (test with skewer)

Glaze: 1/4 cup butter or margarine
2/3 cup white sugar
1/3 cup orange juice

Heat glaze just until butter has melted and sugar dissolved. When cake is ready, remove from oven and pour hot glaze over it. Let the cake cool completely before removing from pan.
